Overview

Athens + Cape Sounion is a nine-hour full day exploration of Athens and Cape Sounion. Your exploration will start with a guided tour of the Acropolis. You will have the opportunity to learn everything about the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion, the Caryatides, Herodion Theater, the Theatre of Dionysus and of course the Parthenon, all located on the sacred rock of the Acropolis. From there, your exploration continues with a visit to the Acropolis Museum, a marvel of architecture with a full exhibition of the glory of Ancient Athens. If you had already visited the Acropolis Museum, you visit the Roman Temple of Olympic Zeus, the Panathenean Stadium (the site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896), the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in front of the Parliament House overlooking Constitution Square. Admire the views of government buildings and elegant structures of the 19th century. Drive along Panepistimiou Avenue and view the Cathedral of the Catholic Church, the Academy, University and the National Library. After a quick break, the second part of your tour will be with a drive along the Athenian Riviera offering fantastic views. You can have lunch near Cape Sounion or marvel at the Temple of Poseidon and then enjoy dinner either at the historical town of Lavrio or overlooking the Temple of Poseidon.
